Saving a Gift of Nature

Grand Marais Harbor & Breakwall Restoration Project

Grand Marais has been the site of a beautiful natural harbor for hundreds of years, sheltering ships from harsh Lake Superior storms.

And now...

The Harbor needs YOUR HELP

Grand Marais Wins!!

 GRAND MARAIS THANKS YOU!!

WHOO HOO!! Can you believe it? Grand Marais beat out over 9000 communities and gathered nearly 1.3 million CHEERS to win the “We Hear You America” Reader’s Digest contest. Official word came on Feb. 10 that Grand Marais had won. (see below) GM beat out the second place town by over 97,000 CHEERS.

We wish to thank every single person who hit that CHEER button. Without you this would not have been possible.

We also would like to thank Reader’s Digest for giving Grand Marais the opportunity to put our harbor issue in the national spotlight, where it rightfully belongs. Hopefully, the US Army Corps of Engineers and our federal and state legislators will no longer be able to ignore this life and death situation.

Again, thank you to all who participated in this contest on our behalf. It’s a wonderful thing to know how this “Harbor of Refuge” has touched the lives of so many.
